The foreign designers were deeply impressed by S.P.I Design¡¯s thorough research into cultural context, historical materials, and vernacular elements, and how these were translated into contemporary designs with a strong sense of place and identity. Many questions also focused on project operations in China, including the cooperation between developers and the government, securing renovation rights - especially from private owners - financing, leasing practices and terms, and profit models.
